I know Christmas is over but I really did have to share our tree because there's a story that goes with it. On a day that I was a bit busier than ususal, a girl from my sunday school class and also a neighbor called. She started her conversation by saying, "Mrs. Lux, can I come over?" I thought about all the things I had to do and even told her I had a lot of cleaning to do, then I asked if she liked to vacum. "Yes, I LOVE to vacum!" So I thought, I could use some extra help. When I met her at the door, I saw her for the little creative person she was and I asked: "Would you rather vacum or decorate my Christmas tree?" Without hesitation, she shouted "Christmas tree, Christmas tree". I turned her loose and let her create a Christmas tree of her own. She had several pieces of candy while she worked. We had opportunity to talk about Christmas and her family and after an hour and a half, her time limit set by her mom, this is the tree she gave me. I think it's one of the prettiest trees I've ever seen!
So if I can share one thing for the New Year, it's don't be so scheduled you don't have time for spontinaity. Spontinaity in life, with those you love, with friends, nieghbors and strangers. Our Lord had time for those most people wouldn't have given a second glance. Look beyond the moment and into the opportunity. |
