LOL Swongs.... (but at least I am out of the red this month)
Posted on June 24, 2008 at 10:51 PM
I have had quite a few 100BB+ swings this month! It has been a fairly wild ride, but still fun (most of the time), and is turning out to be profitable after all. I am back out of the red this month. Even with my cashouts to pay for some coaching and buy a couple pimp ass throwback jerseys, my bankroll has grown a little from Limit holdem, SnGs, and bonus/rakeback.
I havent posted much cash game data this month so I will throw up my graph for June to this point:

Lets hope I can keep it heading back up, instead of the usual coming back down!
Breaking Even
Posted on June 15, 2008 at 09:51 PM
Hey there. Played quite a bit of poker this weekend. I played about 1500 break even hands of Limit, and about 150 STTs. I was actually a little bit ahead for the weekend, but pretty much a long break even stretch. It's nice to have bonus and rakeback to ensure that you get a little something for your time!
Back to Even for June?
Posted on June 12, 2008 at 09:33 PM
Hey there.
I really have not been paying attention to my results too much this month. I am starting to think that it has been having a negative effect on my play. With that said, I estimate that I was down about 200 bucks this month so far... until recently. I think that I might have erased my losses since I have been running so hot in SnG play.
I am running hot, but I also like to think that my game has improved a lot. I have been studying up on my ICM and push/fold game. I have recently read both Sit n Go Strategy by Collin Moshman, and also Kill Everyone by Nelson/Streib. Additionally, I have been doing a lot of work in SnG Wiz taking ICM Push/Fold quizes and going over my own hands. Reading the STT forum and watching videos by AMT on deucescracked (grats on the final table! Tough break, bro) has helped a lot, too.
This has had some good results as you can see below.

For the few people that view my blog and know me as a player of limited hold them, don't fret. I am still playing Limit, too.
Take care!
May Review
Posted on June 8, 2008 at 06:47 PM
Hey guys.
I am a little late with my may review, but I have been busy. I had a great month (for me) in May. It was the first month in which i have ever profited over 1k. This number includes money which I received from bonus, rakeback, cash game and tourney winnings.
Needless to say I nearly doubled my bankroll in one month while never playing above limits for which I am rolled.
However.....
I have given a good chunk of it back to start the month for June :(. I don't have my June data with me right now to confirm, but I would estimate that I am down about $200-$250 in the first week of the month. Hopefully I can get it turned around soon!
Here is the graphs from may.

I played a lot of 9 man NL SnGs on full tilt as well. The above cash game graph, SnGs, bonus+rakeback brought in $1020 for me !
I was hoping for a repeat this month, but since I am off to such a bad start, it might be tough to do! I will try to be better about posting as I try to get on the right track.
$100 Session
Posted on May 21, 2008 at 07:07 PM
I think this is the first time I have ever made $100 in one session playing at my limits, so I thought I would post about it. As usual this month I ran hotter than the sun. The biggest pot was a 3 way 30BB pot at .5/1 where I flopped a full house against AA and the other villain turned the nut flush. I was really happy to take that one down!

One other cool thing to note about this session is that I was able to pull to break even in my shot taking at 1/2 this month. Looks like I will continue to add 1/2 hands to my sessions when there are good games going. I try to only sit in the best 1/2 games when I play, but there are always so many more juicy .5/1 games going that I find it more profitable to play lower most of the time.
Here's how I have done in 1/2:
Thats all for today. See ya later!
Weekend Report (late)
Posted on May 21, 2008 at 01:26 AM
Hey!
I continued to ride my hot streak through the weekend. When I started posting my blog again a few weeks ago my bankroll was at $850, after this weekend my roll is already up to about $1,600 even after purchasing Holdem Manager and a poker book. This heater has been entirely playing .5/1 limit, $5-$10 buy in Heads up Limit SnGs, and $5 buy in STTs.
Thanks to running hot and clearing a reload bonus at Stars. I made about $350 in two days (cash games/tourneys/bonus). Not bad for a micro stakes donk.
Anyway, here is some data for play over the weekend.
The above is my limit holdem stats for the past weekend.
I also played a lot of tourneys on sat/sun. The following is my sharkscope data. This is not all from this weekend, of course (I did profit about $80 total from tournaments, however)
One cool thing to note is that at the time I started this blog my sharkscope data showed negative profit at the point that is circled on the graph. From playing mostly heads up limit SnGs, I have ran up my data to a somewhat respectable level:
Qutting Well
Posted on May 13, 2008 at 06:59 PM
This week it seems the optimal amount of hands for me to play (after coming home from a long day at work), is about 200 hands.
I have played 200 hands each on both Monday and Tuesday. I felt really good during the most of the session, but definitely did feel my game start to slip toward the end of the session. I was consciously aware when my A game had slipped to my B game, and yesterday when I made a horrible call down with AQ unimproved when the worst possible river card fell, I knew that I was playing my C game, and promptly quit my session for the day.
It is areas like this that Elements of Poker has really helped my game. It has helped me more than any other poker book even though it has with limited strategy for actual hands, etc. The ROI I have got from my $30 investment on this book is already great, and I still have a lifetime of poker to play.
Here is the report for the last 2 days from Holdem Manager
Playing less hands = more profit
Posted on May 11, 2008 at 07:05 PM
One thing I have been trying to do this month is actually play LESS hands. Over the weekends in the past I have normally played about 5K hands or even more. This month, thanks to a new outlook on poker from reading Tommy Angelo's book Elements of Poker, I have been trying to play less, better quality hands and quite each session well.
Here are my results for the weekend.
(This includes full ring and 6max so my VPIP is low)
I played under 1k hands and really felt great while playing. Obviously I ran hot so that helped too.
Here is the graph
Thats all for today.
Take care
Off to a hot start
Posted on May 6, 2008 at 07:46 PM
I have really started out hot this month. The change is VERY welcome since I was doing so poorly last month. I attribute my winning so far to running hotter than the sun, and making good poker decision AWAY from the table thanks to Tommy Angelo's book "Elements of Poker".
Here is my graphs for april and up to this point for May. What a difference! I cooled off a little bit in my last chunk of hands. I got set over setted, over-flushed, 2 out suck-outs.... quite a bit of big hands lost, but it's ok. You cannot run as hot as I have been running forever. Just gotta take a deep breath and move on

Off to a better start than last month
Posted on May 1, 2008 at 06:55 PM
I got off to a pretty good start yesterday. I think I ran well, and played OK. There were a couple hands that I am pretty sure that I missed some thin value on, so that is not very good. I will be going over my hands today (if I can find time), and will post anything of interest later. I am trying to make a better effort to go over my own hands more, and also post/grunch more at the forums this month.
Anyway, here are the numbers from my session yesterday:

See ya soon! Good luck at the tables
Ok, I am back.
Posted on May 1, 2008 at 01:01 AM
I have not posted in a LOOOONNNG time. Anyway, I am back. It is a new month and I am going to get back in gear. In my time away I reached my goal of a 1k bankroll
I actually ran it up to as high as about $1150 at one point....
but last month disaster struck and I went on a big downswing. I am now back to the same point I was at about 6 weeks ago. My bankroll is a paltry $850 dollars.
I am going to change the name of the blog because I don't want to just get to 1k then stop. The sky is the limit.
I will be back making regular updates to my blog this month if anybody cares. Given the sheer lack of traffic I get, I am guess than nobody does!
March is Half Over
Posted on March 13, 2008 at 07:54 PM
It's the midway point in the month, so I thought I would do an update on my progress so far. My combined bankroll between both sites is now at $845. Here are my stats for march so far:
Heads Up SnGs (Ranked 15th on Sharkscope 5.00 Heads up Holdem SnGs)
Here are my cash game stats:

Its been a pretty good month this far. I am still hoping that I can reach the $1,000 goal by the end of the month. If I keep running red hot in SnGs, I think that I should be able to make it.
I have been starting to think about moving up to the 10.00 HU SnGs. I think that I will try out a couple matches this weekend.
Take care!
Hot in SnG play, cold in cash games
Posted on March 12, 2008 at 06:44 PM
I'm back on a big heater in SnGs, but have dropped about 60BB+ playing cash games.
Last night I could not win a hand for the life of me.
I really cannot think of more than about 2 mistakes that I made (One big one, and one small one), but I lost most of the pots on hands where I was ahead and the river brought a 4 straight or 4 flush to beat me, or other hands where I had an overpair or top pair and had the villain drawing to 3 outs and they hit. Oh well. Such is life in limit poker.
I am still up $300 for the month of march, and my bankroll is still at $800, so I have nothing to complain about really.
In better news I am back on the Sharkscope leaderboard for Heads Up Holdem $5.00 SnGs. I have won 17 of my last 20 matches. The most recent win was against another ranked low stakes SnG player.
3/11 Update
Posted on March 10, 2008 at 06:08 PM
I think I am doing ok for 1/3 of the month being over. If things keep going my way, my bankroll should reach $1,000 by the end of the month. (Who knows though, I could start running bad at any time)
Here are my cash game stats for march. As you can see I am running really good in heads up and full ring, but just doing OK in 6-max.

I am still profitably working on my heads up play at the $5.00 SnG levels too. In march, they have brought in more profit than cash games (Although I have not played many cash games hands)

So, since i ended last month with a $535 roll, I am up quite a bit so far this month. Lets hope I can keep building up by playing within my bankroll, and improving at poker.
Bankroll is a currently at $800 after winning 30BB in heads up cash games last night.
peace.
Breaking Even
Posted on March 9, 2008 at 06:41 PM
I played about 50 heads up matches over the weekend. I went break even over the stretch, which is not awful I guess. I had been running really hot. Even with that mediocre run, I still am winning about 65% of the time, and have a 25% ROI overall for heads up. Cannot complain about that.
Break even can be frustrating, but it is nice to have rakeback and an active bonus to help out.
I broke into the sharkscope leaderboard for 5.00 HU SnGs last week, but this run has seen me fall back off. I think I have about $185 total profit for 5.00 heads up, and 20th place is $195 or so. Maybe I can catch up.
However, cash games are still a lot more profitable I believe. I had been taking time away from them to play these, but this weekend I put in some time at the cash tables as well and brought up my net for the month to about 90.00.
I started with my roll at $500 this month. Currently I am at:
Stars: $430
Full Tilt: $320
--------------------
Total : $750
I guess that is OK for just doing my hobby over a 10 day period.
Sorry, I don't have any pokertracker data today, but here is my sharkscope graph showing the break even run.
One thing I have learned over this, is that I need to watch my tilt. I think I could have won a lot more of these matches, but I did myself in with tilt induced bluffs that were not going to work. Also, sometimes I got frustrated and just stacked off with a bad hand when I still had 400 chips or so left. Bad, bad plays. It is very easy to come back from being short stacked in these things. I have seen it happen many times... so I need to control tilt and find a way to win when I am down.
Take care!
Update 3/7
Posted on March 6, 2008 at 08:04 PM
I have kind of cooled off a bit. I dusted off about 40BB in cash games
(I was up around 60+BB for march at the time of the last update, so I am still positive for the month) My bankroll is down a little bit from the amount in my last update.
I am at $715 total for both sites.
Plus, I have hit a coldspell in SnG play as I have dropped my last 6 of 10. I still cannot complain at all, because my overall results have been great.
My SnG losses kind of tilted me last night. I lost due to a disconnect against a very poor player, which kind of irked me... Then, I lost two more matches to very loose passive horrible players who both ran hotter than the sun. Oh well. I'm sure I'll bounce back over the weekend. I would love to play a series of matches against all of those players.
Here is some data (I got me a pretty star next to my sharkscope name!):
Heads Up SnG Results Graph

Ok. That's all for now. Take care!
Running Hot in Heads Up
Posted on March 2, 2008 at 10:14 PM
I have been running really hot in heads up play. Last time I wrote how I was happy to just get my sharkscope stats back up out of negative profit... now I am up over $100 in just a short time playing heads up.
I have won about 70% of my matches. My longest winning streak has been 9 games. My longest losing streak has been just 3.
Hopefully this will continue!
My bankroll is doing well.
Stars : $405
Full Tilt : $330
--------------------
Total: $735
Feb. Results
Posted on March 2, 2008 at 10:04 PM
Here is my graph for Feb. 2008. This plus being up about 10 buy-ins for Heads up SnGs leaves me with a pretty good winning month.
More Heads Up
Posted on February 28, 2008 at 06:05 PM
I took some money off stars and put some back on Full tilt. Partly just for the heck of it, and partly because I still have an active bonus and rakeback there.
I pretty much have been playing 5.00+.25 heads up limit holdem SnGs only. I really want to get better at heads up, and this is the cheapest and least risky way to do it for sure. Actually, I find the competition to be very soft.
Almost everybody I play is just happy to limp on their button and give me free looks, and is either far too weak/tight post flop, or far too bluff happy. I have been finding it very easy to make adjustments during the matches.
Here are my results so far:
So I have a win rate of 66% over my first 36 matches! I hope I can keep it up, but it seems unlikely that this is all that sustainable. I hope to keep improving my heads up play.
One other small thing that is nice, is that I finally got my sharkscope stats out of negative profit! Kinda happy about that. Although I have been a winning player in cash games, my SnG stats were in the red until lately.

Well thats it for now.
I will be back later with a review results for the entire month.
Current Bankroll:
Stars - $400
FTP - $135
-----------------
Total - $535
Weekend Report
Posted on February 24, 2008 at 07:54 PM
Well, I played over 4,000 hands this weekend and I ended up showing just over a 50.00 profit. That's a lot of work for a small amount of money, but I am playing more with the goal of learning the concepts of the game rather than to make a ton of money (that will hopefully come later)
So yeah, it is a lot of work for a small payout, but this is a hobby for me, not a job.... so its ok! I am used to hobby costing me money, rather than showing a return.
Anyway, it could have been a lot worse. I started out over $100 in the hole on friday, and clawed my way back into the black at a lower limit... so I can't complain.
Here is some data
Here is the profit tracking graph

That's all for now.
Feb. is coming to a close so I hope to finish off well this week. I won't be able to play many hands until the weekend, but I hope I can inch a little closer to the 1k goal by the end of the month
Current Bankroll: $470.00
